Sweetloom and Princessa: A Double Triumph at the International Taste Institute
Yuksel Seeds' exceptional varieties, Sweetloom tomato and Princessa pepper, honored for superior flavor and quality by Michelin-starred chefs in Brussels.
**06 June 2025**
Two exceptional varieties of Yuksel Seeds have been recognized by the prestigious **International Taste Institute** in Brussels for their superior flavor and quality. The award-winning varieties, **Sweetloom** heirloom black purple tomato and **Princessa** pepper Kapia, captivated the jury with their rich taste and unique characteristics.
**Prestigious Recognition**
The International Taste Institute conducts rigorous **blind taste tests** with a panel composed of Michelin-starred chefs and expert sommeliers. Evaluations are based on five criteria:
* First impression
* Vision
* Olfaction
* Taste
* Texture
Only products that meet or exceed the Institute’s high standards are awarded.
**The Stars of the Show**
* **Sweetloom Tomato:** An heirloom variety celebrated for its vibrant color and naturally sweet, well-balanced flavor. It was particularly praised for its rich texture and complexity, securing the Institute’s highest accolade.
* **Princessa Pepper:** This Kapia variety impressed the jury with its crispness, elegant sweetness, and aromatic profile.
**A Commitment to Excellence**
“This recognition is a testament to our continuous commitment to excellence in flavor and innovation,” said **Hicham Abba**, Head of Marketing & Area Manager of Americas, West Europe, Africa, and ME of Yuksel Seeds. “We are proud to see our varieties once again celebrated on the global stage.”
**A Legacy of Flavor**
This is not the first time Yuksel Seeds has been honored by the Institute. In 2024, several of its tomato varieties—**Umay, Tomblack, Tobralina, and Snowsweet**—also received top taste awards, reinforcing the company's reputation for developing high-quality produce that delights both consumers and professional chefs.
With this growing list of award-winning varieties, Yuksel Seeds continues to set the benchmark for flavor, quality, and innovation in vegetable breeding.
